CPRA is working on a new project titled Canada Gets Active. Modeled after Kingston Gets Active (KGA), and in conjunction with the Everybody gets to play™ initiative, the main objective of Canada Gets Active is to increase Physical Activity involvement of Canadian children by increasing their access to and participation in community recreation facilities. Job Description
The County of Grande Prairie has an immediate opening for a Manager of Recreation. Reporting to the Director of Protective Services, this position is responsible for the planning and implementation of recreation programs and the safe and efficient operations of County recreation facilities and parks. The incumbent will do this in consultation with community recreation groups and municipal partners to best meet their parks and recreational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline such as recreation or physical education
Knowledge of social, community and recreational programming
Experience organizing special events
Financial experience including budget preparation, grant applications, report writing and fund-raising.
Valid class five driver’s license and an acceptable Criminal Record Check are required
Preference may be given to those applicants who have:
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational skills combined with the ability to lead a diverse team
· Ability to prioritize, schedule work projects and manage interruptions in order to meet deadlines
· Experience working in a municipal government environment
· Experience and training in supervising staff an asset.
· Experience fundraising and proposal (grant) writing would be preferred
· Park Planning experience would be an asset

Full Time Position
Under the supervision of the Personnel Support Programs (PSP) Coordinator, the Fitness and Sports Instructor prepares and instructs physical fitness training sessions and conducts physical fitness evaluations for the ASU Chilliwack in accordance with NPF regulations and policies. He/She advises military personnel in accordance with the CF physical fitness program standards. He/She also performs lifeguard duties, inspects and maintains physical fitness equipment, as well as provides assistance with regional sports programs and administrative support for physical fitness and evaluation programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences, or a related field
OR
- College diploma or certificate in Exercise Sciences, or a related field, AND some years of experience in physical fitness evaluation and prescription, or in a related field
OR
- Some years of experience in an occupation related to physical education, exercise sciences, or in a related field
AND
- Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications
- Current National Lifeguard Certificate (NLS) qualifications
- Current Certified Personal Trainer (CSEP-CPT) qualification
- Canadian Forces EXPRES Test – Incentive Level
Language Requirement: English essential, bilingualism (French / English) an asset.

- Of physical fitness programs, standards, and evaluation protocols

Rate of pay: $ 17.51/hr – $ 19.02/hr
The successful candidate will be required to maintain the EXPRES Test – Incentive Level.
